KS3
In Year 7, 8 and 9 students have 3 hours of Mathematics lessons per week.
In Year 7 students are taught in 8 mixed ability groups and work through a ‘Mastery’ based curriculum designed by our Maths HUB to deepen understanding and encourage the transfer of ideas and concepts to a variety of contexts.
In year 8 and 9 students are taught in half year ability groups (4 in year 8 and 5 in year 9). They continue to cover areas of Mathematics which includes Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measures and Data. Students will also be encouraged to develop confidence in Problem Solving in these areas. Our more able students in Year 7, 8 and 9 are encouraged to take part in the national Maths Challenge Competitions. Students are arranged into groups using Prior Attainment Data, internal assessments during Year 7 and Target Data for KS4.
