PSHE & Citizenship
Citizenship & PSHE - Personal, Social, Health Education
The new PSHE and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) curriculum has been directed by the government to be taught in all schools from September 2020.
In the Minster school, the delivery of Citizenship and PSHE is done in both discreet lessons and well as via cross curricular topics and themes. The majority of content is covered through PSHE & Citizenship lessons. These are interwoven with RS into schemes of learning. In additional subjects such as Science, PE, Food tech, Computing & IT and Tutor time, teach elements to students.
Throughout the teaching of PSHE and Citizenship, students will be able to develop skills which will enable them to have an awareness of what is required for them to be able to remain healthy and safe in life. By doing this, students enable to go through their journey of education within school and develop a confidence on issues addressed as they embark on a life outside of school.
The teaching of topics aims to develop skills such as resilience and risk management amongst others as well as giving students the opportunity to discuss topics related to health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world discussing some of life’s challenges and opportunities. This will enable students to make informed decisions as they move on in life.
