If you are aged 16-19 and studying in the Sixth Form, you could get help with education-related costs through the Post-16 bursary funding. This can be used to pay for things such as clothing, books, equipment for your studies, transport etc. For further information, please go to www.gov.uk/1619-bursary-fund/overview

In order to be eligible for the funding, you must meet certain criteria. Please access the application pack below for details regarding eligibility and complete the application form included if you meet the criteria. If you are unsure whether you will be eligible, please complete the form and return to for assessment with the relevant supporting documentation.

What is the 16-19 Tuition Fund?

The school will receive £150 for each student in year 12 who achieved less than a grade 4 in English or Maths.

How will the school spend the funding?

The school will use the funding to provide 1:1 and small group teaching for these students. The aim of this is to help them prepare for re-sitting their English and/or Maths exams and in doing so achieve a grade 4+.

The school will track each child in the group to ensure any barriers are identified and tackled.

Why this approach

The EEF (https://educationendowmentfoundation.org.uk/) lists 1:1 and small group tuition as having high impact. Due to the relatively small amount of funding and the existing success of this model in school, adding additional resource to an existing structure is the most appropriate use of the funds.

Aims

• That Sixth Form students look smart, ready to work and act as good ambassadors for the Minster School
• That they act as role models to which other students aspire
• That the differences between their dress and the rest of the school mark them out as more mature, responsible young adults and are immediately recognisable as Sixth Form students

Overall statement: Sixth Form students should dress appropriately for a school or office environment, wearing clothes that give them a professional appearance. In all cases, branding should be minimal and without large logos.

This includes:

Shirts or blouses (ties optional)

Polo shirts

Suit jackets

Jumpers, smart sweatshirts or cardigans

Skirts or dresses (of a length suitable for a school or office environment)

Trousers, chinos or smart black jeans

Smart shoes or smart trainers

The following are not acceptable:

Off the shoulder tops	Non-black denim	Strappy vest tops
Crop tops	T-shirts	Shorts
Leggings worn as trousers	'Distressed’ clothing	Underwear showing

NB. The dress code is subject to the school’s discretion which, in all cases, is final. If a student is unsure whether an item of clothing is acceptable under the dress code they should seek clarification before purchasing or wearing it to school.

The Sixth Form Dress Code is reviewed with students on an annual basis. Any changes made will be communicated to students and parents.
