The nature of the course:
Politics is a dynamic course that combines looking at current political events in the both the United Kingdom and the USA. In Unit 1 and 2 the key areas that are covered include the nature of democracy and how effective the government is. Students also explore the traditional political ideas of conservatism, liberalism and socialism. Unit 3 explores US Politics, including the role of the President, US elections, Congress and the constitution. Within this, students have to compare and contrast US and UK systems. An interest in current affairs is strongly encouraged.
Examination is based on the interpretation of source material and essay writing.

Unit 1: UK Politics Examination worth 33%.
Unit 2: UK government Examination worth 33%.
Unit 3: Global Politics Examination worth 33%
