The nature of the course:
History explores different periods to help develop a sense of perspective over time, to understand a wide range of opinions and interpretations and to formulate ideas and judgements. You will study the nature and development of government and society over time in unit 1 and in unit 2 you will explore the creation of a dictatorship in the 20th century and its subsequent impact on society. You will also complete an historical investigation on an aspect of 19th century American history which will require independent research, an understanding of historical interpretations and a thorough interrogation of primary sources.

Unit 3: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness: USA 1775-1939 Non-examined Assessment of 3000-3500 words worth 20%
