End of the First Week

End of the First Week

It is the end of our first full week back at school and it has been fantastic to have all our students back on site. You will have known, through the parent guide, that there are many changes to how we are operating but I am pleased to say that students have responding positively and are making the systems work. Ultimately, for me, the best part of reopening has been visiting lessons and seeing our students happy and learning.

The systems at the beginning and end of the school day have been effective in keeping the school bubbles separate when waiting for lessons to begin and in dismissing at the end of the day. The staggered end to the day has dispersed student traffic around the site effectively. I would be grateful that if you are bringing a vehicle to collect or drop off your child then please do use the long stay car park in order to further reduce congestion.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the students and staff for their work in making sure it has been a smooth start to the academic year.

Some reminders for the week ahead

Face coverings on buses

Students should be wearing their face coverings on bus journeys unless they are in an exempt group. We have had reports of students removing their coverings once the buses have left the school site. Please remind your child of the need to wear a covering on the bus in line with government guidance for public bus services.

Social Distancing

We have reviewed our social distancing measures within school at break and lunch. Students will now find that seating areas are clearly defined in terms of where students can and cannot sit. Once again our students have responding well to this and understand the rationale that when we can social distance we must.

In line with social distancing, students should be keeping their distance when outside and under no circumstances should be touching each other. We will sanction students for deliberate breaking of social distancing rules.

Rule of Six

As you would have seen on the news the 'Rule of Six' is being introduced from Monday. Whilst schools are exempt from the meeting of no more than six we are mindful that our students need to be aware of this ruling when not on site. This is especially the case for members of our sixth form who leave site during the school day. They need to ensure that they do not socialise in a group of more than six.

Uniform

Students have looked smart on their return to school and continue to wear their uniform with pride. From next week our uniform monitoring systems will be in place once again to ensure that these high standards are maintained. A reminder of our uniform code can be found here.

Many thanks for your continued support
