Outstanding GCSE results for the students at The Minster School

Students were today celebrating as they received their GCSE results at The Minster School in Southwell. For this cohort, much of their secondary education had been disrupted by the pandemic and it is immensely satisfying to see that the students’ determination, resilience and optimism have been rewarded.

In a year which has seen the examination grades returning to the distribution levels of 2019, The Minster School is proud to share that 85% of students achieved a grade 4 or better in both English and maths. Alongside this, a quarter of students, 25%, achieved a grade 7 or above in both the subjects.

Ben Chaloner, Head Teacher, is pleased to see the school community succeeding together. “Today, students are receiving results that are testament to their hard work. During a period of education disrupted by the pandemic and now with grades returning to 2019 levels, students should quite rightly be celebrating their achievements. I would like to thank all the school staff and parents that have been involved in supporting and guiding our young people to be in the position that they are today. Throughout the morning, staff have been on hand to offer further advice and guidance to those that need it, and we are available over the coming days.”
